Terms of use
1. Scope and provider
These terms govern the use of Approbot (the website, the web app and its services) between you and the operator of Approbot ("we"). Buying a pass is a separate contract with our reseller Paddle (section 6).
2. What Approbot is, and is not
- Approbot prepares doctors trained abroad for recognition in Germany, its language and its exams. It serves exclusively this preparation, the Kenntnisprüfung and the Fachsprachprüfung above all, and is not meant for the care of patients.
- Approbot is a self-study service. Its feedback, corrections, points and ratings are generated automatically by the software, partly with artificial intelligence (section 8). No teacher or other person checks your work or monitors your learning progress, and you have no claim to that. Our support helps with questions about your account, passes and technical problems; it does not answer subject questions about the learning content.
- Its information on rules, deadlines, fees and exam formats is general information from official and published sources, each with its source and date. It is not legal advice or a legal service. Please take questions about your own case to the competent authority or a lawyer.
- Its medical content (the knowledge base, the images, ECGs and findings, the emergency drills, the cases, questions and feedback) is study material for the exam. It is not medical advice, not a recommendation for the treatment of an individual patient and not a medical device, and it does not serve to diagnose, treat or monitor patients.
- We prepare the content with care, but it may contain errors, be incomplete or no longer be current: guidelines, approvals and doses change. Content a specialist has not yet reviewed is marked as such. We do not warrant that the content is free of errors, complete and current; our liability follows section 10.
- The content does not replace the guidelines in force (such as those of the AWMF), the drugs’ prescribing information and the specialist literature, nor medical training, supervision by experienced colleagues or your own clinical judgement. Check every dose and every recommendation against the original source before you apply it. Responsibility for diagnosis and treatment always lies with the treating doctor.
- Approbot has no connection with any authority, medical chamber or exam provider such as the Goethe-Institut, telc or ÖSD. Their names are used only to describe the exams.
- We guarantee neither that you pass an exam nor any outcome of your recognition. Rules change; what your authority tells you prevails.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and use Approbot for your own preparation.
- Give a correct email address and confirm it. Keep your password and recovery codes secret. An account belongs to one person; it may not be shared, lent or sold.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account.
- The contract for the free use is concluded when you open your account. You can end it at any time by deleting your account.
4. Free features, passes and keys
- Some features are free; others come with a pass (German Pass, FSP Pass, KP Pass, All-in Pass) or with extra voice minutes. What a pass includes, how long it runs and what it costs are shown before you buy.
- Every pass comes as a key. A pass starts when its key is activated and runs for the period shown; another pass for the same area follows on from the one running.
- A key must be activated within 365 days of its issue. Until then it can be passed on; after that it belongs for good to the account that activated it.
- A pass’s monthly voice minutes start again on the first of each month and lapse at its end; minutes bought on top stay until they are used.
5. Fair use
- Use Approbot only through the interfaces we provide for it: no scraping, no getting round limits, protections or allowances, no reverse engineering of the software.
- Do not try to make the AI produce harmful, unlawful or offensive content or reveal its instructions.
- Do not enter data of real patients or other people.
- If you break these rules, we may restrict your account in proportion, suspend it or end the contract; we tell you why.
6. Buying passes
- Passes are sold by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, Judd House, 18-29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom) as reseller and merchant of record. The purchase contract is concluded with Paddle under Paddle’s buyer terms, which the checkout shows; Paddle takes the payment and issues the invoice. Prices include VAT.
- We provide the features of the pass to you.
- If you buy as a consumer, you have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days; the checkout gives you the withdrawal instructions and the model withdrawal form. If you ask for your pass to start at once and confirm that you know you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, the right ends when the pass starts. If you keep a key for later or give it as a gift, the pass starts only when the key is activated, and until then you can withdraw.
7. Availability and changes
We work for Approbot to be available at all times but cannot promise it: maintenance, updates and faults beyond our control can interrupt it. We keep developing Approbot and may change, replace or retire features and content. What a pass you have bought essentially includes stays available for its term, or we refund the part you could not use.
8. Artificial intelligence
Simulated patients, examiners, conversation partners and feedback are generated by artificial intelligence; simulations with AI are marked as such. AI can be wrong. It does not replace a human examiner, and its ratings do not predict an exam result.
9. Rights in content
Texts, design, cases, simulations and software are protected. You may use them for your own preparation, but not copy, scrape or redistribute them. Official sources remain their authors’.
What you write or say stays yours. You allow us to store and process it to provide Approbot to you.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under mandatory product liability law and where we have given a guarantee. For simple negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation, that is one whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely, and only up to the damage typical and foreseeable for the contract. Otherwise our liability is excluded.
For the free use, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, except for injury to life, body or health. These rules also apply to our staff and agents.
11. Ending the contract
You can delete your account at any time, on the Account page under "Your data" or by email to us. Passes you have bought end with their term; if you delete your account before, they end with it, without a refund unless the law provides one. We may end the free use with four weeks’ notice, and any contract without notice for good cause, in particular a serious breach of section 5.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for a valid reason, such as a change in the law or in Approbot. We tell you by email at least four weeks in advance. If you object within that time, the previous terms continue to apply to the passes you have already bought, and we may end the free use. Changes to the essentials of a pass you have bought need your consent.
13. Governing law and disputes
The law of the country from which we operate Approbot applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually live.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
These terms are written in English, the language of the contract. We also offer them in German, French and Arabic; if a translation differs from the English text, the English text prevails.
If a provision is invalid, the others remain valid.
These terms apply from 2026-10-24.
